The PARR volunteers do many different things that involve the dogs directly, the foster homes and adopters, and basic running-of-the-business, such as giving out information at fundraiser booths, calling references for potential adoptions, transporting dogs to vet appointments or foster homes, making photocopies, shopping for supplies, etc. When a new volunteer starts working with us, he or she is subscribed to our email list. This is where we post requests for help. It's next to impossible to give everyone the same opportunity to help the rotties by telephone. Some of the volunteer work is a lot of fun, some of it is less so -- the jobs one person finds boring another might find exciting.
We have two "levels" of volunteers: coordinators and associates. The coordinators have a major area for which they are responsible for coordinating, such as adoptions, dog evaluations, fundraising, merchandising or foster homes. The Coordinator does the bulk of the tasks in his or her area, but also delegates and coordinates other volunteers' efforts for his or her area when he or she needs additional help. Associates help the coordinators in most or all of the various activities associated with rescuing dogs. Whether someone becomes a coordinator or an associate depends on their energy level and time availability. In all fairness to all of the volunteers, we ask that everyone do a little of everything to avoid having a few people getting all the "fun" tasks and the rest getting the "boring" kinds of jobs.
For this reason, we need self-starting individuals whose schedules are reasonably open. If you are highly motivated to help rotties, want to learn all you can about the breed and rottweiler ownership and then teach others, if you're someone who is a "do-er," who says, "Point me in the right direction and watch me go!" you're the person we're looking for! Please fill out our online volunteer profile form below or email our volunteer coordinator for more information.
