Please
welcome our newest rescue - Buddy. We already have a "Buddy" within
PARR, so I am thinking of a new name for him...suggestions
are welcome! (thinking of the name Sully)
He is a young male, just a year old, who is ALL puppy. He has
lived in the backyard for his lifetime and has not had another
dog to play with. We introduced him to our ' ever-so-patient'
boy Toby, just to see how he would do, and Buddy was very excited
to meet a new friend. We are also told that he plays nice with
cats and kids!
Buddy had a family once, but with a divorce, and a move, his
owner decided that it was time to take Buddy to the pound. Just
a day away from this fate, as the house has been sold and the
owner was all packed up and leaving, we convinced the owner to
let us come see him to determine if we could help. I am so glad
that we did as this was no life for a dog. I have included a
photo of his water bowl - YUCK! is all I can say about that.
In addition, the owners form of discipline was a smack in the
face...
Buddy is a very nice, playful boy, who is eager to please and
quickly made his way into my lap. He does jump up and is a
bit "mouthy",
but those behaviors will disappear once he is in a foster home.
Art and Anne have stepped up to the plate, once again, and
offered to take the boy in. Stay tuned for updates. Here are
a few photos
in the meantime.

Update: 7/25/2005 - information from foster home:
Buddy
is a handsome dog and loves to play. He likes his squeaky toys
and wants to be chased around the house or play tug with a
rope toy. He likes early morning walks and and is good on a leash
or Gentle Leader. He is well mannered and not destructive in the
house even though he comes from being outside all the time. He
still has a puppy's rambunctious tendencies, but is learning basic
commands and still wants to be a lap dog. Buddy is a very loving
dog and
craves attention from his people and is getting used to his good
diet as he was not fed well before. As a he is still a puppy he
will need an active environment and likes a good back-scratching.
He is house-trained with a dog door and has good house manners.

Poor Buddy had this as his water bowl. Yuck.
