His
previous owners, who are back yard breeders, were in the process
of mating the male and female - AGAIN! Might I remind you,
Lucky is only 5 months old, and is one of the momma pups so the
momma
just had a litter 5 months ago. Lucky got a little too close
to the male and female when they were mating and the female
attacked Lucky. This happened several days ago, per the previous
owner,
HOWEVER, for Lucky to be as sick as he is, I would suspect
it happened more than a week ago. The previous owner decided
to
use skin glue to put Lucky back together again, trapping the
harmful infection inside of his body. By the time the #$@*
owners decided to take him to the vet (to be euthanized) he could
not walk or even lift his head.
Lucky is currently at the Animal Hospital and it is a miracle
he has made it this far. The infection is raging thru his body
and he has 8 drain tubes surgically implanted around the back
and front of his neck. His face is swollen to twice the normal
size and he can still barely stand or hold his head up. The Animal
Hospital staff are the ones who named him Lucky, since his previous
owners have neglected to even name him - for the last 5 months!
We are not even sure he is going to make it so please send your
thoughts out to him. He did drink a little water today and ate
some canned food from our hands.
UPDATE (11/15/2004):
Lucky has done miraculously well on his road to recovery! His wounds
are healing up beautifully as is his spirit. He is doing great
playing with his foster Rottie siblings and loves to be with
people. He is not much of a chewer unless it is his toys...he
LOVES his toys! He has gained weight and has a very hearty appetite.
Lucky is a very sweet little boy who will be a wonderful companion
for many years. Please take a look at this handsome youngster!
