Success Stories

This is a brand new page, showing the happier side of rescue. As you can imagine, rescue is hard work full of heartache. If you've ever wondered how we can keep doing it year after year, just look at these happy endings!

ODIE:

Odie is about 10 months old now and is growing. He isn't as bulky as my previous Rotts but is getting taller as you'll see. He and Buddy have become best pals and usually where one is the other isn't far. Odie has kind of claimed a hassock for his resting place. That will show up in one of the pictures. He gets a regular walk and a fair amount of ball throwing out back. Buddy is less interested in chasing balls so all the more for Odie. Odie has become a little sneaky and manages to sneak on the bed at night. Gets crowded at times and I'm not always sure who is kissing me in the middle of the night, but it could be worse. All and all he is turning out to be a great addition to our family and am absolutely glad we adopted him.

Hi, I'm Reiney.
I was picked up as a stray on Christmas Day, 2001, and sent to live with a foster home for Rottie Rescue. Reiney wasn't my real name, but everyone thought I must be part REINdeer because I'm so big and I was wandering around on Christmas Day, so I let them call me Reiney for a while and now I like it. I also liked my foster family soooooo much that I talked them in to keeping me and they are very happy they did. Here I am with my sister, Foster. She was a rescue, too, and now we're just like 'peas and carrots'.

When I went to live with Foster and my person named Gail no one but me knew if I was house-trained, but I surprised everyone by being on my best behavior. I really wanted a Forever Family and they let me sleep on the bed with them, OH BOY! My sister showed me how to play in the back yard, and how to roll over so my person can scratch my tummy. She took me out and taught me how to act like a lady when we walk on a leash. I have lots of new friends now, some have feet and some have paws!

And now I have a new foster-brother named Max! I like him a lot, but my person tells me that he will only stay with us until the right family comes along to claim him, just like Gail did for me. I'll miss him a lot when he leaves, but if he will get as much love and attention as he deserves he'll be as happy as ME! And Gail says there will be another dog after Max leaves that will need a loving home to care for him or her while he or she waits for a Forever Family. So I get to look forward to making new friends FOREVER!

Please consider rescuing a pet instead of buying an animal from a pet store or out of the newspaper. And if you are up for the challenge, consider FOSTERING for a local rescue group or animal shelter. Some people say one person can't make a difference, but I know I've made a difference to all of the dogs I've fostered over the years, and they've each made a difference in my life, too. - Gail

TOBY:
Toby had a rough start in life being born deaf and having a few other minor health issues. (He was bred by a breeder that was only interested in making a buck.) He has conquered most of his health hurdles, and is learning signs for communication. He is growing into a beautiful boy that loves to romp and play. He has adopted a family with two other Rotties, as well as kids, cats, and rats...he does great with them all! Toby has touched our lives in so many ways. No matter what obstacle he is faced with, he meets it and beats it, and stays as happy and loving as ever. When you see that little butt wiggle, and look into those big brown eyes, you know life is good!

Mooch and Isabella (Bellie)

Mooch:
Mooch came into our lives after our best friend Baxter crossed Rainbow Bridge. We needed Mooch since Isabella is deaf and she needs someone to act as her ears. Mooch was a little ball of fur when he first joined our family, but he has turned into a wonderful friend to Isabella and the two of us. He loves to swim and is a great snuggler when he isn't squirming around or wanting to wrestle. We feel so lucky and honored to have Mooch in our life and we are always so grateful to be a part of this great group of people that make up P.A.R.R. Thank you.

BUDDY UPDATE:
I am very happy to report that Buddy is doing wonderful in his forever and ever home! Buddy has adopted mom, dad, two human siblings, two feline siblings, a rodent sister and two Rottie siblings! He could not be more perfect and has been a treasured family member from the beginning . Buddy has acquired a few new hobbies since being adopted, such as, he loves to hike, play at the park, traveling and modeling. (He is quite photogenic you know!

Just wanted to send some pictures of Hope now known as Zuzu and let you know how she's doing. Hope is a wonderful dog and has been getting along great with Isabelle. Isabelle has definitely taken on the "big sister" role. It has been such a smooth transition, it's like she just fit right in. She is definitely a "chowhound" like you said. We all just watch in amazement as she chows down. That girl can eat! She's also been doing great with the kids, she loves to wake them up by jumping in their bed, which the kids just love. She's just a great big bundle of joy and we are so thrilled she's a part of our family. Whenever I cuddle with her, I constantly whisper in her ear that we love her and that she will be with us forever . Thank you for everything. You are bringing so much joy into peoples lives . You don't have to worry about Hope, we all adore her and are so happy she is a part of our family.

Just wanted to give you an update on Hope(Zuzu). She's doing great, loves the dog park. She finally jumps in the car without having to lift her in. She went in the pool for the first time Easter weekend. She just likes to go on the steps and retrieve the toys. She continues to bond with us and Isabelle. The only time we crate her is during the night. We have been leaving her out with Izzy when we go out and she does great. She still has a great appetite and I think has filled out a bit. They are among the "regulars" at the dog park, everyone knows her and get a big kick out of her.

Jolyn, Brian, Abby (Zabby) and Buddy (Elvis) - Thank you for helping with two great Rotties!

Greta and Levi - Two lucky puppies that found a great home. Levi recently crossed over Rainbow Bridge due to an untreatable illness and will be missed by all that knew him and his un-expendable energy supply.

Troy, Carreen, Murphy and Patty - Murphy's early pictures can be seen here.

Just wanted to send an updated pic of Brandy (and Thor). Brandy has brought us all so much love and we're so happy she adopted us. She's our baby girl. And of course Thor just thinks she's all right too.

When we first got her, she was a little skeptical of my husband, but now that's "her daddy" and she just loves to play and purr with him. (It just amazes our friends, since they think she's growling - ha!)

You're all doing a great job and I pray that someday you won't have to take in anymore abused or unloved Rotties. People just don't know what they're missing if they don't get to know one. They are the most loving family dog (if treated with responsibility) that a person could ever have.

My grandson gave me a poem he wrote for school and I'd like to pass it on to you. I thought it was cute

THE ROTTWEILER (Mikey's spelling throughout)

When a Rottweiler feels rotten
Does he stuff his ears with cotton?
Does he sulk upon his bed?
A pile of pillows on his head?
Does he stomp around and shout
"You guys had better let me out?"
Does he tear up someone's sweater?
Or just wait till things get better.

Best wishes,

Al and Mary Beaver

Brandy, pictured with her new brother, Thor, is loving life with her new family. She keeps her proud owners smiling with her comical antics and loving disposition. After 3 years, finally Brandy is truly loved!

We adopted Dixie a year and a half ago. PARR had gotten her from the "E" list. When she came to our home, she was approximately a year and a half. She was not house trained, did not know how to play and was very unsure of humans. With lots of love and patience she has become a special member of the family. Her brother Bear and sister Lucy (a cat) helped her to trust and play. She now has a new sister, Sage, who she is teaching to play. Sage is also teaching Dixie how to play with toys. Dixie is truly a wonderful Rott and we cannot imagine how she ended up on the "E" list. Thank you, PARR, for giving Dixie and our family this wonderful opportunity.

Isabella's (Bellie) foster home has become her forever home. She loves Baxter and her human friends her so much that she has decided to stay forever. Her and Baxter are best buddies and love to snuggle together on Baxter's bed.

Isabella had a tough life prior to her rescue in the desert. The only visible scars of her tough life are what's left of the fang marks on her nose from being bitten by a Rattle snake. Even though Isabella is deaf, most people don't notice unless we tell them. She responds quite well to hand signals and is an all around great friend. This girl loves to run and even though she looks like a little pot belly pig she can run for over a mile without tiring. She's just a chunk.

Cha-Lee and his new family. More to come...

This is Baron and his new dad, living the Good Life. As you can see, these two are inseparable! Baron is a very sweet Rottie boy who, despite being cross-eyed, found the perfect home after being a formerly unwanted dog.

Dear PARR,
Scierra here, I've been in my forever home now for almost 2 years and it is the longest I've ever been in one place. I'm doing great here and love every day, my mom says that I'm spoiled Rott'n. I want to thank you for rescuing me and letting me come live here with my mom.
Thanks again,
Scierra (adopted 5-99)

"HI, I'm Maximus, the handsome guy on the right, and that smiley thing over on the left is my new sister Sara Gin. She came into my home in July of 2001. Her owner was what my Mom says "terminally ill" and couldn't take care of her anymore. Mom says she fell in love with Sara right away with her smile and the way she closes her eyes when she gets pets and kisses. Well, there was no time for me to be jealous because I liked her right away too! She's really nice to put up with my growing pains and antics. And, sigh, she always puts me in my place when I go too far. Here we are celebrating my 1st birthday. Even though I got lots of toys and treats, I think the best present I ever got was my big sister, Sara Gin. (But don't tell HER that, ok?!)" - Yours Truly, Maximus Morris
